Quality Horses For Sale

Here you will find horses that have been through the Sandy Smyth program or that are quality enough to be represented by the Smyth name. Know that when you contact Sandy about a horse for sale, they will be represented honestly and accurately. The utmost importance is laid on finding homes that will make both the horse, and their new owner happy.

Horses will be seen on a first come first serve basis. If I have put a lot of time into our correspondence, obviously I am trying to make you a priority and want to help you make a match with your particular horse of interest... However, if you have to wait to see the horse YOU RISK MISSING OUT. Horses will be held with a 10% non-refundable deposit (will be refunded if horse doesn't pass vet). Horses can be held on site for one week at which time vet checks, additional test rides, etc. can be completed. Sold horses will be sold to suitable parties, in some cases continuing training and lessons may be recommended for ultimate horse and rider success.

OFW Kingmin
2012 AHA Gelding
OFW Magic Wan x Kinsasha

Meet King, an attractive and correct Arabian gelding. King has a lot to offer his rider, with his smooth way of going and varied background that includes a multitude of clinics, a reining foundation, haul out time, and lots of trail miles.
This coppery chestnut would be a great option as a 4-H or local show horse for a youth or adult to polish off. He has the foundation for it and with his attractive profile and smooth way of going, he would be a pleasure in the ring. King also has lots of trail experience as well in different settings and terrain. He prefers to go out alone or with smaller groups of riders. He may be a fun option as an endurance horse for a rider comfortable enough to show him how to go forward and dissipate his energy in larger groups. His current rider has mostly wanted him to walk with the group and it just wasn't the right match in a larger group setting.
King is very sound with clean legs. He typically goes barefoot, however, we have applied front shoes for full time training. He is current on healthcare and is checked yearly by the veterinarian. This will likely be one of the most sound geldings you will find on the market! No maintenance, strong and sturdy! He's been very well cared for.
King has been getting a tune up since the beginning of March, getting legged up for sale. He's mostly done w/j with his owner and is working on lengthening and shortening strides in the ring, being more square in his body, and dialing in some transition work. This is going to be a great gelding to make someone very happy! Don't miss out!

Far Field Finale
El Dorado's Stonewall Jackson x Wing's Golden Legacy
2017 Registered Saddlebred mare

Picture
Far Field Finale - tall, dreamy mare ready to make her new life with you! If you ever wanted to see that classic Saddlebred head looking over the barn door, with the neck of a swan and tipped little ears waiting for you, this may be just the mare to add to your barn! She is lovely from head to toe, with a big hip, straight legs, and fabulous hair.
"Fina" has had the past few months off due to owners circumstances and is back in the barn, getting legged up and ready to go to her new home. Her possibilities are endless, from being a pleasure/trail mount, a breeding mare, or with more work, a possible show mount or driving horse. She's been well loved by her family and is used to small children being around her. She's been ridden in the arena and out on the trail.
Fina is very healthy with clean legs. She has no vices. She will go in a stall or is happy to go out to pasture with other horses. She is currently barefoot. This mare has had one owner her entire life.
If you are that Saddlebred lover, looking for a fairytale mare, ask about Far Field Finale!

ACA Macoixx
2018 AHA Gelding
Delacroixx x Jamaeka GL

Head turner alert! Meet Macoixx (McCoy), 16 hands of shiny hair and glamour! This big beautiful gelding is looking for a new place to call home. He's had extensive training with good miles and is sure to keep his new owner smiling.
Macoixx is no stranger to the show ring - he was trained and shown in hand as a youngster and has also been shown hunter pleasure. He is very happy to "turn it on" and strut around the arena. He has that look at me attitude and you can feel his power, but he is a good boy and always honest and mannered. Macoixx has also been ridden through the Arizona desert and has started his riding adventures across the Sierra Foothills. He happily rides outside with that zest for life and same reliable, willing attitude that he has in the arena.
Macoixx could continue on in the ring to show, or be your next outdoor ride. He's looking for a partner that doesn't mind that teddy bear personality all wrapped up with a little Arabian snort. No vices. Mannered on the ground and easy to trailer, tie, clip and bathe. Happy in a stall or turn out. This is one fancy gelding any rider would be happy to be seen on! Motivated owner, it's time to get this handsome fellow placed.

NEH Annie Oakley
2006 Anglo-Arabian mare
OMR John Henry x Yasou Ya Ya

Darling 16hh mare looking for a soft landing. This well accomplished, former endurance horse has spent the last few years as an older gentleman's walk/trot mount in the arena and for casual trail strolls.
Her current owner is moving to Minnesota with pressing family health issues. It wouldn't be fair to drag the couple's older horses across the country, to that climate, and still be wrapped up in family obligation.
Annie would be a good option to continue as a light riding horse. She is more of an english type mover, with a forward swinging stride. She could also be a possible option for a therapy program or companion horse.
Annie does require some maintenance to be most comfortable riding. All vet records are on hand and she's been well cared for and loved.

I owe you some words. I bought a horse from Sandy Smyth-Reedy that she was selling for a client. A Gorgeous Buckskin Morgan. Sandy had him to do some tune up training before selling. I came out from North Carolina to look at the horse. I only had a day to look and make a decision and then back to the east coast. Sandy spent several hours with me and Wrangler that day including an unplanned lesson while I rode him that was very informational. I was super impressed with her openness to answer all questions and disclosing a few things that some horse traders may not have, especially given that I am relatively new to horses. I also had a pre-purchase and she was very accommodating with her time to work with scheduling getting vet out etc on that (and then again for the health certificate required for transport to another state) And not surprisingly, she was also very helpful with working with the transport operation that picked him up and got him her (5 star review for Twin Palms horse transport) looking and feeling great. Finally, sandy gave me a written report of observations and progress of his training while wrangler was there. I could not be more happy! I highly recommend Sandy Smyth-Reedy - Melissa, owner of Baymount's Rubicon.

We bought a young pony from Sandy for my daughter. I was a little hesitant with his age but after a few visits, rides and Sandy sharing his foundation and training we bought Gunner. We absolutely love him to pieces! He is the perfect match for my daughter! They are a little dynamic duo! He is amazing and has taken my daughter from walk trot to canter & cross rails placing in the top three in Mini Stirrup with SAHJA this show season. I love watching their journey unfold and she loves, loves her boy! Thank you Sandy for his training, exposure and foundation! He is such an amazing pony! -Tiffany

I purchased Comet through Sandy and couldn't be happier. It had been 7 years since owning a horse, and 5 years since actively riding. I always said I'd get back into it "someday." I wasn't actively looking, but I follow Sandy on Facebook and when I saw her advertise this horse I just couldn't shake him from my mind. They say true love happens when you're not looking for it. I grew up in Pony Club, Dressage, and 3-day Eventing, and I most recently discovered Ride&Tie and Endurance. While my current passion is to run free on the trails, a horse with a solid base in the classical way of going is of utmost importance to me. What I appreciate about Sandy is that she gives all horses this critical foundation. No matter your discipline of choice, a horse started with her will understand how to carry itself under saddle, how to respond to aids, and how to be safe in handling on the ground. She also teaches her horses mutual respect, and that riding and working hard can (and should) be fun. Comet is only 4, and I am so pleased with how much exposure he's already had. Overnight camping, trailering, schooling shows, trails, obstacles and props, clipping, tieing, vehicles, kids, dogs, power tools, and every other barnyard activity imaginable. Because of this he has a very willing and open mind, which has allowed me to continue introducing him to new situations without any drama. And believe me... Arabians love to be dramatic! I feel so safe with him and I know he is going to be an eager, fantastic partner. He is already more mentally mature than many of his much, much older stable mates. Thank you Sandy for starting him right, and for your integrity and transparency in ensuring we were a good fit for each other before closing the deal. -Hillary

While searching for my next horse I came across a young mare that Sandy had for sale.  I told her that I was only interested in bringing up another baby if she was truly exceptional.  Amira is everything Sandy told me she was and more.  At 4 years old, she just completed her 4th clinic, rides the trails, and puts up with my equitation as we learn together in the arena!  I appreciate Sandy's honesty and integrity in matching horses and riders.  Amira and I plan to continue on in Sandy's lesson program and become the best we can be!

Many thanks for the wonderful new partner.  I am falling in love! Best, Vicki

We looked and looked and finally meeting Sandy Smyth made my daughters dream of owning a horse a realty. Sandy sold us the exact horse she advertised....anyone that has tried buying a horse knows what I mean. After months of disappointment, we found Sandy and "Dewey". Dewey was everything that Sandy said he was. Sandy took time to make sure the horse was a good match for my nine year old daughter. And as a mother, this was important to me. Sandy was worried about her safety and making sure that my daughters riding ability matched the horses ability. I just can't say enough Sandy and the quality of horse she puts out there.

In reference to Rusty, a horse that Michael and Valerie bought sight unseen:
Hi Sandy, Sorry to get back to you so late. Wanted to give you a quick update on Rusty. Michael rode him out today and he was absolutely wonderful. Needless to say, he is thrilled and I am thrilled because I feel very safe with him riding him. He didn't put a foot wrong, he went first when you asked, he is absolutely at total gentlemen. We couldn't be happier and I cannot thank you enough for this wonderful horse! If I ever need another horse I will contact you because he is exactly as you said. Please feel free to use any testimony you want on your web page because we couldn't be happier with him and once again thank you so very much! Take care, Valerie

Parley is finally starting to settle in. She gets along great with our gelding and actually was playing with him yesterday. They were running and bucking in the pasture having a great time. Yesterday was also the 1st time that she talked to me. I was thrilled! I think Parley is happy and doing well. She got her teeth floated today and was a good girl for the vet.
I recently bought a horse from Sandy Smyth. She was very honest in where the horse was in its training process. Sandy was so easy to talk to and made communication a breeze. She was very prompt in her replies and always got back to us quickly. Besides being extremely friendly Sandy was also the definition of professional. Not only would I return to Sandy in the future but I'd recommend her to my friends and family. -Morgan

Domino
Picture
Hi Sandy Domino/JW is doing great.   I am really enjoying him.   I am riding in the evening here at home and he is a real pleasure to ride.  He does not mind the shadows when we have the lights on in the arena at all.  And one night my husband had let the cows in next to the arena, so I had black cows and calves  out in the dark below the arena moving around.  All Domino/JW did was stop and put his head over the fence and watch the cows for a while.  He did not even mind when all the calves came to the end of the arena and stood there with there heads almost through the fence.  And mind you out side the arena is all dark and inside is a lot of shadows (part of the lights are out, been a long time since I have been out there after dark) Domino/JW was just wonderful, quiet and just looked at the cow/calves and did not pay any attention to all the shadows.  We are adjusting to each other nicely,  every time I ride he is responding to what I want like he is reading my mind.  He is even walking on the lunge line before we go to trot. And he is staying between my hands with out any correction, working off my leg and body language .  We went to Spenceville  last week and I again had a wonderful relaxing ride.  Both of my girlfriends that take all the trail ride pictures are out of commission right now, it probably will be a month before they are back to riding again.  But as soon as I can I will get you a picture  of us out on the trail.  Thank you Sandy,  Domino/JW is just what I needed to get back to enjoying riding again.   He is worth his weight in gold to me. I think Domino/JW is enjoying it here, he has his own really nice lush green 1 acre pasture  with oak trees that he gets to spend 3 hours in every afternoon.  Not sure what he thinks of all the pampering (face washing with a wash rag, being washed off, fly spraying, feet cleaned ect. every day) but he is quietly putting up with me.  Hope all is well with you.
 Thank you again Carol

Torsten TT
Picture
Hi Sandy,
I searched for a long time for a horse that could walk in the hoof prints of my beloved Arabian mare, Lisette. When I first laid eyes on Torsten, I knew he had to be mine. Not only was he Varian bred, but expertly trained by you. He's remarkable, even at 4 1/2.
I trusted your integrity from day one. Your focus was on making sure your horse was well matched. Thank you for trusting me as a honored steward for this fabulous horse. You made the Varian breeding proud by your accomplishments with this young horse. It's my job to continue his journey and make Sheila Varian proud!
Love, Debbie

TOYA

Picture
Hi Sandy, Here's a photo of Toya and Willie.  As a young horse, Toya is doing very well with her new experiences on the trail, though she can be a little unsure of her courage under some circumstances.  Her inherent calm demeanor is a great asset to her being able to learn as she explores her new world.  Yesterday, while Toya was taking her turn as lead horse on a steep hillside trail, a turkey hen flew out of the brush with her newly hatched brood almost under Toya's feet.  Toya wheeled & went front first off the trail edge & lunged down the extremely steep hillside where no horse should go. She never lost her footing or panicked & was able to stop as soon as she regained her balance.  Staying calm through the uninvited event, Toya was able to be led back up precipitous slope to the trail where she proceeded as if nothing had happened.  With Toya's intelligent mind, she should be able to absorb the near accident as a valuable lesson about stepping off mountainside trails.  Soon, she & my gelding Sisco will be turned out on the summer pasture.  There's lots to learn out there where she will have constant exposure to hillsides, deer, turkeys & all kinds of other stuff natural to the wild outdoors.

Happy trails! Carolene and Willie

COOL

Picture
Sandy, I just want to thank you for introducing me to my new love. Cool is the sweetest horse I have ever had. He is well mannered on the ground and a great mind in the saddle even though he is only 4 years old. I enjoy him every day.

I also want to thank you for helping me buy my husband’s horse Tango. He is a dream to ride and my granddaughter loves him too. I will always refer you for anyone who wants to buy a good, well trained and well suited horse.

Sincerely, Mary

She’s settling in and we’re settling together. She’s wonderful. And the best news is that my in-laws bought my husband a beautiful handmade saddle (Goldsmith Saddlery) tooled with grapes/grapevines (he’s a winemaker), and he sold his horse a while ago. It didn’t fit dawn, but it fits Allie perfectly! Woo hoo! Best Wishes, Joanna J

The mare is working out wonderfully for us and Joan could not be any happier. The selling process was very professional and from one trainer to another the entire experience has been very positive. She has settled in beautifully and has been an absolute joy for both my client and myself to work with. Thank you for the opportunity to make her a lovely addition to the barn. -Sharon

Ali Beau Bey

Picture
Dear Sandy, what a pleasure it was doing business with you.  Purchasing Ali Beau Bey went as smooth as silk.  Everything I asked for was done in a very timely fashion.  You worked with me making sure I was satisfied with Beau and making sure he got the right home.  You are such a nice person, professional and an excellent horse trainer.   I would be happy to purchase another horse from you or recommend you as a selling agent or trainer.  Beau or Zippy as he is now known is a delight.  I took him out today alone and rode him all over the hills even crossing water.  He was super, no spook very forward  just an all around good boy.  I am going to spent many happy hours on the trail getting him read for his first endurance ride.  Oh, the trick to him not eating his rope, I just put a hay bag in front of him when I'm saddling and he is happier to eat hay than cotton.Thank you very much, I hope we can keep in contact I feel I have made a new horsey friend.  Beth

Vaquero
Picture
Hi Sandy, Vaquero is doing great! He is adjusting to his new horse and human family. He really likes Ace (the x barrel racer). I have not had time to get riding. We are getting ready to move so I have been preparing for that. He has been having some leisure time! I am very excited to get settled into our new home and get going again. David, my son likes him and has been hanging out with him also. I think he is going to make a great addition to the family.

Tyrees Two Watches

_Sandy:Freckles is doing fine... she is starting to recognize our cars and either puts head up to say hi or comes in, probably to see if there is a chance at a treat!  she won't eat a carrot though, weird and the apple treat bites make her lift her lip up like shes laughing, so funny...  and she likes to drink from a water bottle, she is a clown, fits in our family perfect.... I have always said "there is no one normal at our house"...lol... animals are talked to and treated like people and all have the personality to show it. ( Kealey did teach her 4-H pig to sit like a dog on command.... you don't see that everyday)Kealey wanted to ride the second we got home, I said please let the brown girl have a chance to look around and see if she likes it here or not... as soon as she checked out the hay in the barn, and the treats Kealey carries in her pocket,  i think she was convinced this was going to be an ok place to live.  :)We took her to our arena on friday.... let her look around, check out all the noises, logging trucks going by on road, people still cleaning up from fair... her eyes were wide open but she didn't spook that much, just ansy on her feet a bit looking around.  Kealey saddled her up and warmed her up in the round pen there, it took some extra time and I do think her girth itch was hurting but she settled down and Kealey rode for about an hour after warming up.  I did figure out that someone else had rode in my saddle, found the hole which I used way up inside and adjusted those stirrups, fit her perfectly and she was finally able to get those heels down!! hooray!!!!  o ya, we changed the pad situation, just did the wool pad and a saddle blanket, no dry spots at all when everything removed, yay!!

Mimi

SS Kaya Al-Lat

Picture
_Regarding Kaya's first week in her new home... Hi Sandy,I wanted to give you an update on how Kaya is settling in.  She is doing great and seems to be settling in nicely.  She is showing me more of her cute personality now so I think she is bonding with me.  I have hand walked her on short trails to help build her confidence and have ridden her at a walk bareback in the arena (had to get a different saddle...still waiting for it to arrive).  She is amazing and handles everything well.  When she is scared, she is easy to handle and she tries to figure it out and listen to what I am asking.  She got a new pasture mate on Friday.  He is a big draft horse and she is the boss of him!!  Funny thing is that she came into season yesterday and now she whinnies for him and nickers at everyone else!  You did a great job with her and I can't wait to grow with her.  Thanks for making the whole process smooth and for providing me with such an amazing horse.  :)--Pam

Congratulations Santana, "Mel" will be a great little horse your whole family can love and grow with. He is a very special horse!

Sunny

Picture
Hi Sandy!
Time for some updates :) Sunnys been doing absolutely amazing. Etsuko and I have been working on his canter transitions, and he gets them almost every time. He is such a fast learner! He's also been building up a ton of muscle in his shoulders and haunches. Sunny's becoming very muscular :) We started him over low fences about a month ago, and he's taken to them very well. Nothing larger than a small cross-rail, but he's going over them with no problems and even lands on the correct lead most of the time! I've also been doing a lot of ground work with him, and I can definitely feel the difference. I feel like we've bonded and gotten to know each other very well over the months that I've had him. The weather was very warm yesterday, so I was FINALLY able to give him a bath. (He needed it, lol) Of course, he tried to grab the hose with his mouth to drink the water, but he was very cute.

Bowie

Count Okba

Picture
Hi Sandy...don't know if you remember..but our family bought Count Okba (Okie) last year. Just wanted to let you know that he and Dillon (12yrs) are doing awesome at endurance. They are currently 2nd in standings for West region for juniors and 3rd at national level. They just got a 2nd place at the Lake Almanor 50..only junior in the ride a few weeks ago and a 3rd place out of 71 riders at this past weekend Mendocino Magic ride. Okie is an awesome horse and loves Dillon. Thanks for showing him to us. LuAnne

Jester

Picture
_He is just so sweet and fun to ride.  I took him to a friend's covered arena and he was great, then we went on a long trail ride through woods.  He was more calm than my friend's horse who is ridden there all the time!!!
Peach is impressed that I don't need to lunge him before riding him.  She said that shows he was well trained.  I got the same bit for him that I use on our other arab, an argentine snaffle (tom thumb style).  He is very happy with it.I have a continued appreciation for your skill at presenting him spotlessly clean when we went to try him out!  Any secrets you want to pass on?  I bought that blue shampoo which works well.Have a great day.Susan

Arula

Picture
_She is finishing out perfectly we are doing many trail rides alone and arena work. She is doing well crossing water and packing packs and tarps. I will send you a picture of her soon so you can see how stunning she is...a really pretty young mare!!! Thanks Janet
